Planika FLA4+ 790 Automatic Bioethanol Burner

Planika FLA4+ 790 is a 79 cm wide automatic bioethanol burner designed for custom-built fireplaces, media walls and other built-in fire features. It creates a long line of real flames without requiring a chimney or flue.

The burner uses Planika’s BEV technology, where bioethanol vapour is burned instead of the liquid fuel coming into direct contact with the flame. Operation is controlled using the built-in touchscreen, the included remote control or the Planika mobile app.

The Plus version has a larger fuel tank than the standard model. Where FLA4 790 holds 4.3 litres and burns for up to 8 hours, FLA4+ 790 holds 13.4 litres and burns for up to 25 hours per filling. The burner is 305 mm tall rather than 220 mm, so the larger tank needs to be accounted for in the fireplace surround.

Adjustable flames and heat output

The flame height can be adjusted across six levels, allowing you to control both the appearance of the fire and the fuel consumption. The 13.4 litre fuel tank provides a burn time of up to 25 hours, depending on the selected flame level. At its highest setting, the burner has a maximum heat output of 4.4 kW.

An automatic shut-off timer can be set through the control system. The burner also includes a CO2 sensor and integrated safety functions that monitor operation.

Automatic refuelling

Bioethanol is added using the included automatic fuel pump. The pump connects directly to the burner and stops automatically when the internal tank is full, reducing the risk of overfilling or spilling fuel.

The burner must be switched off and allowed to cool before it is refilled. Only the fuel type recommended by Planika should be used.

Installation

FLA4+ 790 is a built-in burner and must be installed in a suitable fireplace surround. It measures 790 × 305 × 280 mm (W × H × D). The surrounding construction must be made from non-combustible materials and isolated from any combustible parts. Fixings, adhesives and other materials used around the burner must be suitable for high temperatures.

No chimney or flue is required, but the burner needs an earthed power supply of 230 V or 115 V. The space beneath the appliance must be enclosed, the ventilation openings must remain unobstructed and the installation must allow the burner to be removed for servicing.

The burner is intended for indoor use only. The minimum room volume and air exchange rate required for this output are stated in the installation manual and must be observed. Heat-sensitive and flammable objects must be kept at least one metre away and must not be positioned directly above the flames.

FLA4+ can be installed beneath a television or other heat-sensitive equipment, but the construction must follow one of the approved arrangements and safety distances shown in the installation manual. The exact requirements depend on the design of the fireplace surround and the position of the television.

The burner is certified to UL, OMNI, CE and KIWA Labas standards.

Smart home connection

The burner can be connected to a compatible smart home system by adding Planika’s optional SHS module. The module is not included with the burner and must be purchased separately.

Optional accessories

Decorative logs and ceramic stones can be added to change the appearance of the fireplace. Only decorative accessories approved by Planika should be used, as unsuitable logs or stones can obstruct airflow, cause overheating or damage the burner.
